Keifer Nyron Taylor is a London-based photographer and filmmaker from Birmingham. His project Between Today & Tomorrow, an ongoing photo-series of visceral portraiture, spotlights the people from Brixton’s overlooked street corners and parks. His documentation of South London communities extends to music, photographing for Wunderhorse, Wu-Lu, Joe Armon-Jones, Speakers Corner Quartet and Unit 137 Sound System. His short film Lloydie, The Boy from St. Thomas (2019) premiered at Barbican’s Chronic Youth Festival.
Tobias, an unemployed British-Jamaican personal trainer, sells counterfeit tobacco for his mother who is moving back to Jamaica after deportation threats. One violent encounter with a war veteran, Rough Sleeper, a spectral reminder of his father who also fought as a British subject, turns his quick cash scheme into a haunting odyssey across South London.
The Tobacconist plays as part of the Shorts Program: Just a Dream, Like All Others
