Samuel Suffren is a Haitian director and producer. He has just completed a short film trilogy. The first film, Agwe (2022), and the second, Dreams Like Paper Boats (2024), were THFF selections. Blue Heart is the final film in the trilogy. Samuel is developing a feature documentary, Lòtbò, and his first fiction feature, Je m’appelle Nina Shakira.
Marianne and Pétion live in Haiti and wait impatiently for a call from their son in the USA. As silence sets in, their fears and worries grow, revealing the fractures in their own lives. The promise of the American dream now seems to elude them, as the line between hope and reality becomes increasingly blurred.
